Albert Memorial
London, Kensington Gore, London

The Albert Memorial was designed by Sir Gilbert Scott to commemerate the Prince Consort to Queen Victoria, and was unveiled by her in 1876. Standing some 180 feet tall, the memorial also represents the four continents at the step corners, some 169 figures of poets, painters, sculptors and architects across its marble basement, and projecting pedestals representing agriculture, manufacture, commerce and engineering - a monument to the Victorian Empire as well as Prince Albert himself!
