Burnham Beeches are the remains of a great primeval forest that covered much of Buckinghamshire, and contains the largest collection of old Beech trees in the world. It was protected from development in 1880, and has been the inspiration for many artists and poets.

How to get here from Dropmore House:

Road: Head west through Dropmore Park until you reach the main road; turn left along Little Road and then turn right onto Dorney Wood Road. Continue along this until you reach Curriers Lane on the left, then follow this as it becomes Pumpkin Hill and then Hawthorn Lane. Turn right into Burnham Beeches onto Lord Mayor's Drive. Dropmore House (Day of the Daleks). Road (2.9 miles, 19m) : Head west on Lord Mayor's Drive, and at the end turn right onto Hawthorn Lane. Carry onto Pumpkin Hill, and this becomes Curriers Lane. At the end, turn right onto Dorney Wood Road and continue along it until you eventually reach the junction with Deansway and Little Road.
