Hanson's Aggregates Sand Pit
Puddletown Road, Gallows Hill, Dorset, BH20 7NY

Formerly owned by Amalgamated Roadstone (ARC) it is now part of Hanson's Aggregates business. It was used for the extraction of minerals to manufacture concrete. The site is now used for storage, whilst the area has since become Higher Hyde Heath, manged by the Dorset Wildlife Trust.

Road: A31 - From the A31, take the B3075 south at Winterborne Zelston and follow it (crossing the A35) until you reach the A351. Turn right and follow this to Wareham, and then join the A352 towards Weymouth. Puddletown Road is on the right, and then continue along here until you reach the Dorset Golf and Country Club - the old quarry is just after this on the right-hand side. Parking: unknown. +
