Membury Airfield Business Park
Wiltshire

Membury airfield was built during the Second World War, opening in August 1942. It was used by the US Air Force and the RAF until it closed in October 1946. Many of the wartime building still remain, including the four hangers, though they have since been modified into industrial units.

The airfield itself was split when the M4 motorway was constructed, opening in December 1971 (The Daemons was filmed here in April of that year!), and the north-eastern corner is now the motorway's Membury services.

How to get here from Aldbourne:

»

Road: Head northeast out of the village along Aldbourne Road. When you reach the village of Baydon, turn right onto Ermin Street which then becomes Baydon Road. When you reach a crossroads, turn right and follow the road over the M4, and this leads to the business park. +
