Old Billingsgate Market
Lower Thames Street, London, EC3R 6DX
Billingsgate Fish Market hails back to the 16th Century trade at Billingsgate Wharf, which became established in its own riverside building in 1849. The arcaded market hall was built on the site in 1875 by the architect Sir Horace Jones and was in use until the fish market moved to its new location in Docklands in 1982.
The old market building itself is now used as a corporate events venue.

As with much of London, many of the older buildings have since been demolished and replaced with new ones. However, the market itself still stands, as does the smaller building opposite (sandwiched between two modern blocks!).
