Oldbury Power Station

Oldbury was the first operating nuclear power station in the world, opening in 1967. In November 2011, Oldbury was among only 54 organisations to be awarded the British Safety Council's Sword of Honour.

Originally due to close in 2008, the site was finally decommissioned on 29th February 2012.

How to get here from Stokefield Close:

Road: Turn right into Castle Street, then straight across the roundabout and bear left on the B4061. Turn left when you reach Butt Lane, and the left again onto Oldbury Lane towards Oldbury-on-severn. Turn right onto Foss Lane and this leads to the power station (currently signposted for the visitors centre but these may be removed soon). (4.6 miles, 11m) +

Parking Details

Car Park (for visiting the nature trail)

This location is private and has no or limited access only. The power station is private, but you can walk around the outside on a nature trail that is open to the public. Please note the visitor centre has been closed since 2006 though signs are still up for it!

At the end turn right into Butt Lane, and then right onto the B4061 (Gloucester Road).
