The Royal Horticultural Gardens at Wisley cover some 60 acres and was bequeathed to the Society in 1903, being the creation of George Ferguson Wilson. The gardens feature a number of ornamental presentations, but also has a scientific role in horticulture.
Filming for Spearhead from Space took place outside the Sociey's grounds themselves, so there is no need to pay to visit the location.
How to get here from Hatchford Park:

Road: Turning right from the park drive, follow Ockham Lane past the Black Swan pub and continue to Ockham. Once through the village, at the end of the road turn right onto the B2039 (Ockham Road North). When you reach the roundabout with the A3, join it towards the M25 and take the next left, Wisley Lane; the Gardens are just on the left. (3.9 miles, 17m) +
