The Thames Barrier, opened in 1984, was built to protect the City of London against high tides that can occur from the Thames Estuary.

Rail: Charlton Station - Exit the station and head north along Charlton Church Lane. Turn right into Woolwich Road and follow it until you reach Eastmoor Street on the left, then follow this to the Thames Barrier Information Learning Centre. +
