Clearwell Caves is a working mining museum, illustrating mining in the caves dating back for thousands of years.

Admission: 2011: £6.00 adults, ć4.00 children, £5.40 concessions

How to get here:

Road: A40 - Follow the A40 to Monmouth and then take the A466 (across the river) and onto the A4136 towards Staunton and Coleford. When you reach Coleford head through the town on the B4228 heading towards Sling. Once you pass the miniature railway turn right onto Lambsquay Road, and the caves will be on the left. +

Brian Cox Motor Engineering (The Christmas Invasion). Road: Turn left out of the caves onto Lambsquay Road, then turn left into The Rocks. At the end of the road, turn right onto the B4228 (Perrygrove Road) and then left onto Milestone Walk. Continue as this becomes Parkend Walk, and then turn right towards Ellwood on Ellwood Road. Continue on until this becomes Bromley Road.

4 Aug 2009: Note on website during filming: Clearwell Caves website - Please be aware that from Tuesday 28th July until next week, the BBC are filming here for the new Dr Who series. Visitors are welcome, but areas through the Caves will be altered with scenery for the filming. We apologise to visitors for any disruption during this period and we will be completely back to normal by Monday 10th August.
