Camber Sands are a highly popular holiday location, being the only dune system in East Sussex, with a beach that stretches half a mile out to sea at low tide.

How to get here:

Road: M20 - Exit the M20 at Sevington (J10), and then join the A2070. Keep following it south until you reach the A259 at Brenzett, and then turn head straight across onto the A259 towards Rye. When you reach East Guideford, turn left onto Camber Road and this will take you to the village. The beach car park will be on the right as you enter the village. Parking: car park (in season). +

Parking Details

Access to the beach is via a large public car park near to Rye Golf Club. However, the car park is closed out of season, but it is possible to park on the roadside nearby.

Dengemarsh Road (The Claws of Axos). Road (7,2 miles, 19m) : Head east through the village of Camber, and then along Lydd Road. This becomes Jury's Gap Road as it heads towards Lydd. When you reach Lydd, bear left onto Tourney Road, and the follow this until you find Dengemarsh Road on the right. Turn into it and then continue along until you reach the bridge. Parking: roadside.

Bodiam Castle (The King's Demons, Robot of Sherwood). Road (16.6 miles, 37m) : Turn left onto the Camber Road and then at the end, turn left onto the A259 towards Rye. When you reach the town, turn right and then bear right onto the A268. Follow this until you eventually reach Sandhurst, and then turn left onto Bodiam Road. This leads into Bodiam, and the castle is to the south of the village on the left. Parking: admission fee. Parking Castle car park (free to NT members)
