The golden statue of Genersl William Tecumseh Sherman is the centrepiece of the Grand Army Plaza, south of Central Park; it was sculpted by Augustus Saint-Gaudens and dedicated in 1903.

The trees around Grand Army Plaza suffered very badly during a freak early snowstorm in 2011, which meant at the time of filming there was little to block views to and around the monument.
