Formerly known as Granville Colliery Spoil Heaps

Granville Colliery was the last deep coal mine left in Shropshire until it's closure in November 1979. The area has now become a nature reserve, with the old coal spoil heaps becoming heathland.

How to get here:

Road: M54 - Exit the M54 at junction 5, and follow the A5(T) to the next roundabout, with the A442. Head north until you reach the junction with the B4373 and then head east towards Donnington Wood. Once you pass the Asda, cross over the next roundabout onto Granville Road and then follow this until you reach the nature reserve car park. +

"23 years of natural growth would make it hard to spot the right heap. These are opposite the car park near to the old furnace buildings."

Cross the roundbout onto the B4373 and continue along until you reach the roundabout with the A442.
