Kew Bridge Steam Museum

The Kew Bridge Pumping Station opened in 1838 and operated through to 1944 when it was finally closed by the Metropolitan Water Board. It became a museum in 1975. The musuem still retains the original steam-powered pumping engines, which includes the world's largest single-cylinder beam engine.
The museum is open to the general public, and is often free on the London Open House weekends.
Admission: In 2008: £5.00, £8.50 for the year

The side road is on the west side of the museum, and leads to a gate onto Kew Bridge Road - this is just by the entrance into the Thames Water site.

The back yard can be seen from the hill behind the museum, which is publicly accessible (though can be overgrown!).

At the time of filming, the museum was in the process of being extended, and the red posts seen in the story are the foundation girders for the large white building you can now see on the site.

Kew Railway Bridge (The Dalek Invasion of Earth). Walk (0.6 miles, 12m): Turn right out of the museum and then left onto Kew Bridge Road. Cross over and head across the bridge. On the other side of the river walk down the steps and under the bridge to the east side, then follow the path by the river until you reach the railway bridge.
