Penwyllt Inn
Pen-y-Cae, Swansea, Wales
Penwyllt was a small community of workers from the limestone quarries in the area of Craig-Y-Nos. It's hey-day was during the late 19th Century when it had a rail link (Neath and Brecon Railway), but went into decline as industry changed and population dwindled until the quarry closed in 1977. Most of the village was demolished in the 1980s.
The Penwyllt Inn was near to the railway, and was known locally as "Stump Inn". It closed in 1949, and is now used as private accomodation for cavers.
How to get here:

Road: A465 - Follow the A465 to Glyn-neath, taking the exit into the town. Continue onto the A4109 (Inter Valley Road), and then bear onto the A4221 at Banwen/Dyffryn Cellwen. Continue on to Abercraf, and then turn right onto the A4067. Continue along here until you pass Tawe Uchaf, and then there will be a right turn not far before Craig-Y-Nos. Cross the river and then turn left, and follow the road to Powell Street (caving club). (10 miles, 15m) +

Walk along the path west from Powell Street, crossing the old railway line and up the hill to the inn.
