The Shire Hall was built in 1724 to replace the previous smaller Market Hall. It has been used as a village hall since 1994, and a market was regularly held here until new renovation began on the site.

On screen it appears that the arches that Dickens, the Doctor and Rose stand at are opposite the funeral parlour as it burns, but in reality its actually effectively behind, as it is through the passageway to the Hall!
