The caves at Wookey Hole contain some 50000 years of human habitation and is an archaelogical treasure! The extensive caves eroded out by the river Axe are still being investigated, with some 25 chambers discovered so far (only the first few are accessible on tour).

The passageway from the Witches Parlour to the Cathedral Cavern is no longer used since the completion of a more direction tunnel between the two. It is used for disabled access (and those who don't want to dare the metal gantries across the void!).
