Hodgemoor Woods
Chalfont St. Giles, Buckinghamshire
Hodgemoor Wood lie west of Chalfont St. Giles in Buckinghamshire; the woods were in the area in the 13th Century, though its extent across the Chilterns has long since diminished. The woods are leased by the Forestry Commission and is popular for horse-riding.

Road: M40 - Exit junction 2 (Beaconsfield); head north to Beaconsfield, turning left onto the A40 and then right onto the A355 towards Amersham. Turn right into Bottrell's Lane and this leads through the northern side of the woods. Parking: car park near Bottom House Farm Lane. +

I've visited the woods a few times but still have been unable to determine where the filming locations took place - no sign of any ford!

Church Lane car park (Terror of the Autons). Road (3.8 miles, 11m) : Head east on Bottrells Lane towards Chalfont St. Giles. Continue into the village down Silver Hill, and then turn left into the High Street. Turn right onto the A413 at the roundabout and follow it south; when you reach the roundabout signposted for Chalfont St. Peter, enter the village and then turn right into Church Lane; the car park is along the road next right. Parking: in the car park (pay and display)

St. Peter's Court (Terror of the Autons). Road (3.7 miles, 11m) : Head east on Bottrells Lane towards Chalfont St. Giles. Continue into the village down Silver Hill, and then turn left into the High Street. Turn right onto the A413 at the roundabout and follow it south; when you reach the roundabout signposted for Chalfont St. Peter, enter the village and there is a small side road leading into St. Peter's Court almost immediately on the left. Parking: anywhere in the court.

Elmswell House (Paradise Towers). Road (2.7 miles, 9m) : Head east on Bottrells Lane towards Chalfont St. Giles. Continue into the village down Silver Hill, and then turn left into the High Street. Cross over the roundabout with the A413 up the hill onto Vache Lane. This then becomes Nightingales Lane, and the house is on the left after you pass Roughwood Lane. Parking: roadside.
