Nells Point
Barry Island, South Glamorgan

Formerly known as Majestic Holiday Camp

Originally a Butlins, the holiday camp on Nells Point was taken over by Majestic Holidays in 1987, and re-opened just after the story was filmed here. The camp closed permanently in 1996 after the council withdrew its entertainment licence over an improvement dispute. The area has now been redeveloped as a housing estate, though parts of the camp grounds are still undeveloped to the west (the last buildings and outdoor pool were demolished in 2005).

How to get here:

»

Road: A48 - Take the A48 to the junction with the A4226, near Bonviston. This then becomes the B4266 heading into Barry. When you reach the roundabout, follow the A4050 and then at the next roundabout take the exit onto Harbour Road. At the end turn left and continue along Harbour Road into Barry Island. (~6 miles, ~15m) +

Parking Details

As you enter Barry Island, turn right at the roundabout and park outside Fortes (2 hour free parking)
