Ghost Machine

1 episode, broadcast: 29th October 2006
Torchwood are chasing small-time thief Bernie Harris through the streets of Cardiff ; Gwen pursues him through an arcade but then loses him. As Torchwood regroup she spots him again and pursues him through the station . She manages to grab his coat at the other side, but he escapes. She finds the device they were tracking, but then experiences a 'ghost-like' experience with a boy at the station.
Gwen tracks down the boy she saw as a Tom Flanagan and she and Owen visit him , which proves the machine showed her the past. The team decide to track down Bernie to find out where he got it from but have no luck. They regroup and then head off, but Owen then has his own experience with the machine, witnessing what seems to be rape and murder .
As Jack teaches Gwen how to shoot properly , at home Owen looks into what he saw through the machine and then tracks down the suspect Ed Morgan's home . Whilst Eddie is unforthcoming, Owen spots Bernie lurking outside and chases him around the square and across the railway . He slowly catches up and eventually catches him through some gardens . The team make Bernie explain where he got the device and they discover that there is another part at Bernie's home . He reveals that the other part shows the future and Gwen inadvertently triggers this and sees herself holding a knife .
Tosh and Owen discuss the situation ; the team then realise that as Bernie had been blackmailing Eddie over the past, Eddie might have been pushed over the edge by Owen. They head back to Bernie's , and are able to stop Ed from killing Bernie , but Ed then impales himself on the knife Gwen took off him. Later, Jack comforts Gwen over what happened .
