Springwell Lane, Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire
Peter Faizey: part of the quarry is now a landfill site, but a huge part of the quarry still exists, and has been left to its natural state. Because of the way its been guarded off, it seems unlikely they will use it for landfilling so hopely it will remain for a long time!
How to get here:

Road: M25 - Exit junction 17 (Maple Cross) and head east on the A412 to the next roundabout. Turn left towards Rickmansworth, and Springwell Lane will be on the right, just past the pumping station. You can then park in the car park by Springwell Lock. Cross over the lock on the bridge and the quarry is on the left. +

"I gained access to the old quarry and took an
overview shot, but although much of it has become overgrown
and has certainly changed a lot since filming, the chalk escarpment
is still visable, and there is only slight erosion. I was surprised
at how recognisable it was from say 'Earthshock' and others."
