Buckingham Palace
London

Buckingham House was bought from the Buckinghams by George III for his wife Charlotte in 1761, becoming known as the Queen's House. George IV decided to turn it into a palace in 1826, and it was designed with the architect John Nash. It almost became the new home of Parliament when Westminster Palace suffered a fire in 1834, but ultimately became the residence of Victoria. It is now the official residence of the Queen.
