Children of Earth: Day One

1 episode, broadcast: 6th July 2009
Scotland, 1965: children are transported across bleak hills to a place where they are taken away in a mysterious light ...
Present day, 8:40am: children are seen to suddenly freeze wherever they are, in city streets , on the way to school , and at home . As the children flick back into life Gwen arrives at the hub to find it empty, as Jack and Ianto are in a hospital 'with a neighbour who died'. As they leave, Doctor Rupesh Patanjali tries to discuss missing bodies as a Torchwood investigation, but they drive off . Meanwhile in London, Frobisher and Lois make their respective ways to the Home Office and their office , where Frobisher meets UNIT's Colonel Oduya to discuss the children of the world stopping .
Back in Cardiff, the team watch Patanjali's appearance outside at the Bay, and Gwen volunteers to do 'recruitment' . Suddenly children stop once again in streets and schools and begin to chant "We Are Coming". After the event the team decide they need to find children, whilst in London Forbisher travels to Thames House in order to find out more from Mr Dekker .
Jack visits his daughter Alice , but she won't let him take her son Steven . Likewise, Ianto visits his sister Rhiannon at her estate with a similar result. Meanwhile, Gwen chats to Rhys about a new house as she travels to England to meet a Clem who also 'froze' .
Jack returns to the hospital to check on a body that Patanjali reported on, but in the morgue Patanjali shoots him! Agent Johnson arrives and a bomb is inserted into Jack's body - Patanjali is shot, too, as he tries to run. As the recovered Jack and the other Torchwood members return to the Hub, Clem escapes from his nursing home . As the team discover (a) Gwen is pregnant and (b) Jack has a bomb, the children start to chant once more, and as Gwen flees the hub there is a huge explosion ...
